Ex-Racehorses for Re-Homing

A selection of our ex-racehorses currently available for re-homing or under assessment can be seen below.

Perhaps we have your ideal horse. If you are interested in any of the horses shown please contact us to discuss further and we will book you in for a visit to Greatwood.

Alternatively visit our Re-homing page for further information on our expectations of a carer and the re-homing process.

Over the past twenty years hundreds of our horses have gone on to find new fulfilling careers with wonderful carers.

1. KNOCK A HAND (KNOCK)

12 year old 16.3hh Dark Bay Gelding
Knock is an ex-jump racer who still loves his jumping and would suit somebody who enjoys fun rides, hunter trials and hacking. Knock is brilliant in company or hacking solo, is bomb proof in traffic and has no vices.

2. BEACON

5 year old 15hh Bay Gelding
Beacon is a cheeky little chap who is lots of fun. Everything that he has been presented with so far he has taken to with calm and ease. He has been doing grid work, hacking out and is excellent in traffic. There is a lot of potential to come from this exciting little horse.

3. SUEHAIL (SUE)

8 year old 16.3hh Bay Gelding
Sue is still in the early stages of his retraining but so far all the signs are positive. He has 3 very good even paces and is enjoying pole work. He is very forward going, good in traffic and very well behaved on a hack.

4. SCOTTYS

11 years old - 16.2 - Bay Gelding
Scotty’s is a kind sweet natured horse, still young at heart this horse would suit a rider looking to bring a horse on. He shows 3 nice paces in the school and is showing willingness over poles and through grid work. Scotty’s is ridden in a bit less bridle, hacking out confidently, will go out alone or in company and is good in traffic.

5. PRINCE VILLEVERT (LOUIS)

14 years old – 17.2hh - Dark Bay Gelding
Louis is a lovely horse and good to handle in every way. He is good in traffic, hacks out alone or in company. He well-schooled with 3 nice paces; Louis is a big, gentle horse with plenty of potential, he is easy to handle and good to shoe.

6. VAMOS

11 years old - 15.2hh - Bay Gelding
One of our smaller horses, this ball of fun loves life. There is not an aspect of riding that Vamos can’t handle, he is a great hack, hacks alone or in company and is good in traffic. This little ‘pocket rocket’ is a fantastic horse and would make somebody very happy.

7. EMOTIONAL ARTICLE (ARTY)

17 years old - 16hh - Chesnut Gelding
Definite Article – Cairo Lady (IRE)
56 starts on the flat, over hurdles and jumps - 9 wins, 19 places
Arty is a solid and sound horse, now in his mid teens he will make a jolly good kind hack for someone.
