Horses

A former racehorse has much to offer after its period of rehabilitation and Greatwood makes every effort to match the right horse with a carer. Greatwood equine management staff carefully vets all applicants to ensure that ultimately both horse and carer have a long and happy life together.

Ouzbeck’s Legacy Lorry

It is with great sadness that we recently announced the loss of Ouzbeck to colic.

21 year old Ouzbeck retired to Greatwood over 10 years ago. Throughout his time with us he was a valuable contributor to all the educational programmes and has helped many children and young people realise their potential. He also acted as our ambassador on many occasions. Through our partnership with Newbury Racecourse, he attended numerous race meetings and was always impeccably behaved and admired by all.

Supported by Retraining of Racehorses, Ouzbeck attended Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee celebrations in Marlborough and was also a regular visitor to care homes in Wiltshire where he brightened up so many lives. His loss will be felt by young and old alike.
