Arty Ascot Attire!
Royal Ascot is a highlight in the horse racing calendar each year and for anybody who is a fan of
horse racing, this week is a must see event. The horses of course take centre stage although this
week is not just about the horses at Ascot. The Ladies hats also fight for the limelight and it is
always a delight each year as we look at thousands of beautifully turned out ladies showing off
their designer hats which come in many shapes and sizes.
After watching a clip on Youtube, Charlotte was truly inspired to create her own hat from the
resources that we had to hand. As Greatwood is a farm, feathers of all shapes and sizes were
available and having seen many a large hat sporting feathers, Charlotte thought these would
create the basis for a fab hat. Having collected an assortment or feathers from our chickens,
doves, crows, geese, to name just a few resident birds, Charlotte set about fashioning a rather
stylish hat. After much cutting, gluing and sticking, Charlotte was able to make produce a
somewhat large hat that is worthy of being worn at any future Ascot!
Perhaps Charlotte will attend Ascot next year with her mum wearing the hat?!
