Greatwood
‘ The s k y i s fa l l i n g , t he s k y i s fa l l i n g… ’
It’s been a while since Greatwood has welcomed some new born animals and so it is about time we
had some new arrivals. So let us all welcome our 3 fluffy chickens to the group. Taking our total
number of free range chickens up to 16, these little bundles of fluff have caused a stir amongst
the students who are all eager to get up close and see what fun these chicks get up to. The chicks
are learning well from their mother who is helping to show them the correct way to eat and drink,
and this has provided the students with the chance to also learn how animals care for one another
at this early age.
However, due to the chicks hatching at various times, it has meant we have had to encourage the
others to feed by themselves, whilst the mum could continue to keep the remaining eggs warm.
Mikina, Izzy and Laylah have done a great job at handling the chicks and showing them what to do.
They have brought a smile to everybody’s faces and we will watch and care for them closely as
they grow up into troublesome teenagers!
