Aaron In Shetland Shocker!
Our Shetland Ponies love a good race and are a competitive trio, each one jostling for pole position
amongst the herd. And as soon as they heard that St Nicholas School students were coming to race
them in their groups, they were extremely excitable and couldn’t stop neighing.
Patiently waiting, Toy Boy, Aaron and Poncho were expertly groomed by the students, many of whom
were a little nervous being so close to them. However, they were very brave and did a fantastic job
cleaning them all before the big race. It was great to see them all clean and dry after they had spent
the morning rolling around in the mud! We couldn’t have dirty Shetland’s running a race now could we?!
Ready, steady, GO came the command, and off they went, each group taking it in turns to safely lead the
Shetlands in the arena, with even the occasional trot making an appearance. But despite the eagerness
of Toy Boy, Aaron and Poncho to be the first across the finishing line, all of the students stayed calm
and focussed, taking expert control of the lead rope, making sure they stayed safe at all times.
Well done to you all for exercising our Shetland Ponies and learning how to safely lead them around the
arena. Keep up the good work!
