Maxx's Success Story
Maxx first came to Greatwood as a Horse Power™ student with the target of improving his self esteem and confidence and to promote independence and communication. Educated at home, Maxx’s mum was keen that he was introduced to other experiences.
Horse Power™ was a great success for Maxx, and keen to stay at Greatwood he progressed to NOCN accredited Developing Confidence and then Interpersonal Skills. During this time, we were delighted to see Maxx grow hugely in confidence around horses and people. The Greatwood team came to know Maxx as a bright and funny young man, who became more resilient and able to face new challenges. Maxx joined a shooting club and discovered that he had a real talent, winning competitions and making new friends. He also got a part time job.
We are delighted that Maxx is continuing his studies at Greatwood for another academic year, this time to study for another NOCN accredited qualification, Assisting with the Care of Animals.
Maxx’s mum told us "When Maxx started Greatwood he was incredibly anxious, unsure of himself and shut down due to autistic burnout centered around the school and learning environment. After a year spent learning with Robyn at Greatwood, Maxx is becoming the version of himself he has always wanted to be. His confidence and self-esteem have been built and increased, he has learnt valuable skills and has rediscovered a joy for learning. This would not have been achieved without Robyn and the team at Greatwood"
